WAXING musts and must-nots!
- DO NOT apply oils or lotions to the area to be waxed.
- DO NOT use any AHAs or exfoliating products 2 days prior to service.
- DO notify your Esthetician if you are using Retin-A or Renova.
- AVOID application of heat to the waxed area for 12 or 24 hours,
including hot baths, saunas, and steam baths.
- AVOID sunbathing for 12 to 24 hours after
waxing. This includes
any strong UV light exposure or sun bed treatments.
- AVOID applying highly fragranced products to the waxed area,
including:
- Perfume
- Scented body lotions
- Antiperspirants
- Cosmetics, or
- Feminine hygiene sprays.
- AVOID using harsh abrasives or exfoliations
in the waxed area. This
includes any AHA (glycolic acids) products. The only exception
is an AHA product recommended by your Esthetician. If you are
prone to in-grown hairs, loofa mittens, or exfoliant scrubs
can be used once the hair has begun to grow back.
- AVOID applying high SPF sun screens to the waxed
area for 12 to 24 hours. After that time, a sun block must be worn. Sunscreen chemicals
can be irritating to newly waxed skin. This includes self-tanning
products and tan accelerators.
Any redness of the skin should disappear within 6 to 8 hours after
waxing treatment. Slight redness is normal and indicates that the
hair was removed from the root, rather than superficially broken
off. A touch of Neosporin can help with this.
For best results, repeat your professional waxing every 4 to 6 weeks.
Because hair growth rate is different for everyone, you may need
to come in sooner or later than the standard time period.
We will not be able to perform waxing services on anyone using Retin-A
or Renova within the last two (2) weeks. Scarring and lifting of
the skin may occur if a waxing service is performed on an area
where Retin-A or Renova is used.
